MICROSOFT VIRTUAL TECH DAYS

Here’s an opportunity to get trained on the latest Microsoft technologies! Virtual Tech Days (VTD) are back from 18^th-20^th Feb 2009.

Help your Student Tech Club members & faculty get up to speed by screening VTD in your Campus- and you could get rewarded for this!

All you need to do is:

• Screen at least one full VTD session for at least 50 people- a good internet connection and a projector would be required. Additionally, we strongly recommend that you encourage your peers and Faculty to register online as well using the attached invite.
• Print copies of the attached feedback form and get these filled by the attendees.
• Dispatch the feedback forms to Microsoft Bangalore (we shall send the address later this week)
• Earn 40 points flat (no multiples) by submitting an activity under the “Contribution to Special Activities” along with some cool prizes listed below:

Ø If you send 100 properly-filled VTD attendee feedback forms, you will receive a Microsoft USB kit.

Ø If you send 200 properly-filled VTD attendee feedback forms, you will receive a Microsoft jacket.

Ø If you send 500 properly-filled VTD attendee feedback forms, you will receive a Digital photo frame.

Ø If you send 1000 properly-filled VTD attendee feedback forms, you will receive a Windows Mobile Phone!

To be eligible for prizes, you have to submit appropriate proof (like photographs of the session) along with the feedback forms.

In case of multiple MSPs who jointly organize the VTD screening in a college, here’s an example of how the distribution will happen: If 3 MSPs jointly organize a screening, then (3 x 100) three hundred attendees are required for each MSP to be eligible for a USB Kit.

MSP Boot Camp : 6th to 8th March,2009‏

 ALL INDIA MICROSOFT BOOTCAMP for MICROSOFT STUDENT PARTNERS has been anounced. just putting a copy of that mail on my blog. 

 For MSPs hailing from hyderabad there is a bad news, the bootcamp venue is HYDERABAD so there would be no travelling for us. Anyway i am looking forward to it as it would be my first ever bootcamp.

Folks,

We are glad to announce the all India MSP Boot Camp to be held from 6^th to 8^th March,2009, at Hyderabad. You will be glad to know that this time around, we are conducting the Boot Camp in the Microsoft Hyderabad Campus and during the days that you are in Hyderabad with us, you can expect some great technical content with, of course, loads of fun in the process.

 

   You will also be glad to know that this Boot Camp is coupled with an internship test for Pre Final year MSPs, organized exclusively for Microsoft Student Partners. Read the mail very carefully to know more about the same.

However, please read the portion below very carefully for the eligibility criteria for attendees. If you are to attend the Boot Camp, you will have to satisfy both the criteria.

 

This email contains 3 sections. Read all of them very carefully.

 

Criteria 1:

 

·         All MSPs who did not attend the MSP Boot Camp in Goa in October 2008 and who satisfy the criteria 2 are eligible.

OR

·         MSPs who attended the Boot Camp in Goa but are in the Pre Final year of their degree course and satisfy criteria are eligible.( read the section below related to Internship selection drive)

 

Criteria 2 :

 

Every MSP who intends to attend the MSP Boot Camp in Hyderabad has to have a minimum of 150 activity points in his/her account. Activities submitted on/before 28^th  February, 2009 will be considered.

 

So if you do satisfy both the above criteria, start packing your bags and get ready to set out to Hyderabad.

 

Remember, you have to have at least 150 points in any case to be a part of the boot camp or internship test.

 

1.Travel Arrangements.

You will have to make all travel arrangements on your own. You should plan your travel in such a way that you reach Hyderabad on the 6^th of March, afternoon and leave on the 8^th March, evening. Microsoft will provide you accommodation only for the period of

 

4 PM, 6^th March to 11 AM, 8^th March. However, we suggest, you take a train/bus/ flight in the evening of 8^th so that you don’t miss on any sessions on that day.

 

We will not make arrangements for you in case you wish to arrive earlier or leave later than scheduled. In all such cases, you are advised to get all such reservations done beforehand. Microsoft will not bear such expenses.

 

All your meals will be taken care of by us in the above mentioned period.

You shall be provided a travel reimbursement as per the fixed plan below. Please note that the Re-imbursements typically take time to get processed and you will receive them at least 2 months after the Boot Camp completion.

2.Internship Test.

As mentioned, the Microsoft campus recruitment team is going to conduct an internship drive for MSPs during the Boot Camp in Hyderabad. The eligibility criteria for this will be

 

·         You have to be a pre-final year student currently( example: you should be in 3^rd year currently if you are in a 4 year UG/PG course)

·         You should be able to spare a at least 8 weeks( all in a continuation) anytime between April 2009 to June 2010.

 

If you satisfy the above two criteria and have a minimum of 150 points in your account, here is your chance to appear in an MSP exclusive internship test on the 6^th of March (5 PM onwards)

 

 

3.Registration process for Boot Camp and Internship test.

 

You need to control click  registration link here to register for the boot camp. The sequence that you should follow should be

 

·         Read the mail and check if you are eligible.

·         Get your tickets booked

·         Fill in the registration details on the above mentioned link before 11.30 PM, February 15^th, 2009.

 

 

Registrations after 11:30 pm IST on 15th February 2009 will not be accepted under any circumstances.

 

 

We shall send you more information about your hotel details and other such issues after we close the registration on 15^th February,2009.

MICROSOFT RESEARCH INDIA SUMMER SCHOOL 2009

Microsoft Research India has come with Microsoft Research India Summer School 2009 on Networking for students and faculty. The Summer School is hosted by MSR India in collaboration with Indian Institute of Science from June 08 – 19 2009 at the IISC Campus in Bangalore.

The primary goal of this summer school is to expose students in India to cutting-edge research in computer networking. There are many sound and experienced speakers, who’ll each be giving a series of lectures on a broad range of sub-areas within networking. The selection of students will be made through a competitive process. The selected students need to attend and participate in the entire summer school.
